WCPE Reviews Recent Works by Quatuor Mosaiques and Leif Ove Andsnes

Released on: December 19, 2007, 9:47 am

Press Release Author: Mike Gauss / WCPE

Industry: Entertainment

Press Release Summary: Announcers Deana Vassar and Paul Jordan Offer Praise

Press Release Body: WAKE FOREST, N.C. (December 19, 2007)-WCPE announces that its
winter program guide, Quarter Notes, features CD reviews by Preview! announcers
Deana Vassar and Paul Jordan. The recent releases by Quatuor Mosaiques' and Leif Ove
Andsnes' are critiqued.

In Quarter Notes,Vassar reviews Andsnes' "Ballad For Edvard Grieg" and Jordan
reviews Mosaiques' "Beethoven". Both offer praise. Mosaiques is applauded for the
use of historic period instruments in the string quartet's performance of
Beethoven's "Opus 18 nos. 2&3." Andsnes is complimented for styling that holds true
to Grieg's emotional writing.

"The sound Mosaiques achieves is definitely seductive in its sonic quality," says
Jordan. "Not being a professional musician or musicologist, it is difficult to
explain the total effect of the sound of these classic instruments."

Vassar and Jordan's remarks are featured in the "Lately We've Heard" section of the
program guide. This section of Quarter Notes reviews recent CD releases from
celebrated classical composers, conductors and performers.
