Local Quantity Surveyors Show Eco Commitment

Released on: January 31, 2008, 1:18 pm

Press Release Author: apt marketing & pr

Industry: Construction

Press Release Summary: Cheltenham-based Jeremy Moore Associates (JMA) is to become
the first quantity surveyor in Gloucestershire to join the 'Green Register of
Construction Professionals'.

Press Release Body: JMA has decided to join the national training and networking
organisation to build knowledge and keep pace with modern construction methods,
affecting environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. Key team members will
attend 'sustainable buildings and services' courses, in partnership with the 'Green
Register' organisation. JMA, based in Wellington Street, is a specialist cost
consultancy and project manager and, in recent years, has seen an industry emphasis
on green building techniques.

As a result of the training, JMA will gain full membership of the 'Green Register',
demonstrating the company's commitment to sustainable building and allowing
networking with other like-minded professionals. MD Jeremy Moore says: "We are
particularly interested in renewable energy products, solar power, wind power,
sustainable forest management, natural ventilation and carbon neutral products so
that future generations are not prejudiced through human contributed climate
change."

JMA has already been involved in several projects with an environmental focus
including building a primate enclosure at Bristol Zoo, made purely from timber
sourced from a sustainable forest. Other projects saw JMA use natural ventilation in
a church restoration, install a neutral carbon biomass boiler into a new education
centre and recommend ground source heat pumping for a large bespoke house. Currently
JMA are managing a project at Cowley, near Cheltenham, which involves geo-thermal
heating and seedam roofing.
