Virtual Assistants Make Time Management Easier For The Overworked

Released on: January 31, 2008, 10:18 am

Press Release Author: AVA Professional Support Services' Debbie Lynn Butler

Industry:

Press Release Summary: Enjoy more free time beyond National Time Management Month

Press Release Body: Exton, PA -February, National Time Management Month, is an
opportunity to learn to make the most of your time. Although a virtual assistant
(VA) cannot increase the length of the overworked person's day, a VA can help busy
people get control of the time they do have. Debbie Lynn Butler, founder of AVA
Professional Support Services, offers these steps to better T-I-M-E management.

Track how you spend your time. Journaling and the use of time tracking tools will
help you get an accurate idea of how you spend your time. You then can determine if
the use of your time reflects what matters most to you.

Itemize the essentials in your day-to-day and month-to-month schedule. Make a list
of high priority activities for both your personal and your professional life. Only
you can decide what is important and what deserves the use of your time as you set
priorities.

Manage time-wasters. According to Butler, avoiding projects one dislikes, allowing
frequent interruptions, and being disorganized play havoc with time management and
greatly reduce the number of productive hours in the day. Cut down on
procrastination, distractions, and time spent searching for lost or misplaced items,
and you improve your time management. A VA can handle unwanted tasks including
writing and sending thank you notes and greeting cards, searching for information or
solutions, and paying bills from your account. With virtual phone and email
management, interruptions and distractions are fewer. A virtual assistant can also
organize contacts, data, files, information, and even your resume, minimizing wasted
time.

Eliminate the unnecessary. Delegate, hire help, and say no when you can. Caring for
family, fulfilling job requirements, getting enough rest, and taking care of your
health may have to stay on your list, but better time management will help you
maximize the hours you have to spend on activities of your choice.

Practice T-I-M-E management and enjoy National Time Management Month and beyond.
