Press Release Body: According to plumbing home study specialists, Train 4 Trade Skills, many adults looking for a career change simply can't take time out to study trades on an apprenticeship or full-time college basis.
To plug the nationwide shortage of skilled plumbers, the industry needs to find new ways of attracting new entrants, particularly older students and career-changers, and the company maintains that home study plumbing is the answer.
Train 4 Trade Skills' Marketing Manager, Mike Head, said "College courses and apprenticeships are fine for school leavers living with parents, but many people who've already been in the jobs market and want to train for a skill simply can't afford the time to attend college".
He added "It's therefore been left up to companies such as Train 4 Trade Skills to find new ways to attract plumbing students. Home study, which allows students to earn a living and study at their own pace, while still achieving recognised plumbing qualifications, is proving to be the way forward and is attracting a lot of mature students".
Train4TradeSkills' plumbing course was launched in early 2007 and has since attracted thousands of men and women, from all walks of life, of all ages.
The courses blend a combination of theory, with practical, hands-on training and industry recognised and verified workshops, endorsed by a highly sophisticated system of computer based learning, where students attempt plumbing tasks in a virtual reality house, using familiar `computer game' technology to emulate a safe environment within which to practice their skills.
Though essentially home based, students spend time studying at residential workshops and Train 4 Trade Skills maintain they actually achieve more tutor-led / mentored practical training than conventional college courses.
Mike Head continued "A year at college consists of 36 days, that's 72 days for an L2 qualification. Our courses offer a minimum 20 days practical training, plus a further 320 hours (54+ days) of theory, with tutors who have a minimum of 10 years `on the tools' experience and are qualified to L2/L3".
