Press Release Summary: April 16th 2008 - Minister of State and Clare T.D., Mr. Tony
Killeen this week welcomed the announcement that St Cronan's National School in
North Clare has been allocated funding under the CLÁR Primary School Outdoor Play
Facilities Enhancement Scheme.

Press Release Body: The Carron school received EUR7,500, which will enable a total
value of works amounting to over EUR14,300 to be carried out.

Commenting on the CLÁR Primary School Outdoor Play Facilities Enhancement Scheme,
Minister Killeen said, "This scheme has been very successful so far, with hundreds
of primary school children in Clare now benefiting from the new equipment and
improved facilities. We all know that good play facilities in schools are absolutely
necessary, so I am delighted that the schoolchildren of St Cronan's National School
Carron are going to benefit from this scheme."

"The CLÁR Primary School Outdoor Play Facilities Enhancement Scheme is a jointly
funded scheme aimed at improving outdoor play facilities in small rural primary
schools in CLÁR areas. The type of projects being funded cover grassing/tarmacadam
of play areas, the supply of goal posts, nets, basketball hoops and other
recreational facilities for outdoor play areas", explained Minister Killeen.

He noted that numerous primary schools across Clare have received funding under the
scheme over the past year, including Ballyea, Cloonanaha, Clondegad, Drumdigus,
Connolly, Dangan, Knockerra, Doonbeg and Baltard.

Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs, today approved
funding for a further 19 schools nationwide, totalling EUR138k.

This brings the total funding approved under this measure to over EUR5.5m, with 828
schools being assisted since 2004.
