ColdFusion was first developed by brothers Jeremy Allaire and JJ. It was the product of Allaire but was taken over by Macromedia in 2001. Since Adobes takeover of Macromedia it has become one of their products.
ColdFusion is an application server with a software development framework and is used for the development of software and dynamic web pages. Besides being used in data driven websites and intranets it is also used to generate SOAP web services or Flash remoting.

1. Similar functionality to Microsoft ASP.NET, PHP or JavaServer Pages. 2. ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML) has similar syntax to HTML, JSP and PHP.
