Baby Firefly(r) Step 1 Toothbrush from Dr Fresh(r) Treats Teeth Right From the Start

Released on: August 4, 2008, 3:12 am

Press Release Author: webmaster

Industry: Healthcare

Press Release Summary: Baby FireFly is the latest oral care innovation from Buena
Park, California's Dr. Fresh, the maker of the country's number one selling
childrens' FireFly toothbrush

Press Release Body: Somewhere between the age of four and seven months, your baby's
very first tooth will make its adorable debut. That day is more than just a
sentimental entry in the baby book - it also sets the stage for a lifetime of good
oral care habits and healthy smiles, because dentists say that parents should begin
brushing babies' teeth right then and there.
Why are baby teeth so important when we know the tooth fairy has designs on them?
Healthy baby teeth hold a place and serve as spacers for permanent teeth, helping to
ward off future orthodontic problems. They also help baby speak clearly and
properly, and they are key to proper nutrition. Studies also show that cavities in
baby teeth portend more of the same in permanent ones. So it makes sense to use the
best brushing sense from the earliest moment possible.
That's why Dr. Fresh has introduced a starter version of his famous FireFlyŽ
toothbrush, the new Baby FireFly Step 1 Toothbrush, designed for ages 4 to 36
months. Like its "big kid" precursor, Baby FireFly lights up and flashes at the
touch of a button, blinking for 60 seconds, the amount of time dentists say it takes
to thoroughly cleanse either the upper or lower arch. After one minute, it stops
and is then reactivated for the second row of teeth.
"Parents can use the FireFly's flashing light to delight and distract baby while
they gradually introduce them to the unfamiliar practice of brushing," says Steven
J. Brattesani, D.D.S., a San Francisco-based pediatric dentist. "The light lets
them know how long to brush each arch, and also gets the child used to the idea of
thorough brushing. Sometime in their second or third year, kids can start to
handle the brush on their own, with parental assistance, and the colorful light will
help them know how long they need to keep going."
The Baby FireFly Step 1 Toothbrush is specially proportioned for a child's small
mouth and hands, and features super soft bristles that won't scratch delicate young
gums and teeth.
The Baby FireFly Step 1 Toothbrush comes in beautiful bright pink or blue and
retails for approximately $2.69 at Toys 'R Us stores nationwide.
