on Wednesday said that they will jointly set up an aircraft maintenance, repair and
overhaul facility at the new international airport in Hyderabad.The MRO unit will
provide maintenance services for narrow and wide-body aircraft, and will be able to
handle all kinds of aircraft ranging from light jets to super-jumbos such as the
Airbus A380, a joint press release said.The Kingfisher Airlines in June 2005 had
ordered five A380 aircraft, with an option to buy five more. Aircraft delivery is
schedule to begin in 2011. A GMR-HIAL spokesman said the MRO facility would be
located at the Shamshabad airport SEZ. \"Investment in the MRO, equity structure of
both parties and size of the land are all part of the business plan that is yet to
be finalised and will be conveyed shortly,\" he said.The proposed MRO is expected to
start operations by the third quarter of 2009, he added. GMR-HIAL is a joint venture
company promoted by GMR Infrastructure Ltd to develop and operate the greenfield
international airport at Hyderabad.
