NPSA Celebrates Birth of Internet

Released on: August 27, 2008, 7:16 am

Press Release Author: Self Storage Promotions

Industry: Consumer Services

Press Release Summary: The National Portable Storage Association is celebrating the
birth of the Internet and reminding businesses that containerized storage units are
ready to let you connect to the World Wide Web.

Press Release Body: KANSAS CITY, MO. (AUGUST 28, 2008) - The Internet is pervasive
in society today, but did you know the Internet was first invented in August 1969?
The Internet was birthed through an experiment by the U.S. Department of Defense.
Today, people access the Internet at home, at work, in vehicles, on cell phones -
and in portable storage units.

\"Portable storage containers can be modified as portable buildings complete with air
conditioning, electrical systems and lighting, security windows with rebar, paneled
walls and ceilings and, yes, wiring for telephone and Internet connections,\" said
John Finnessy, CMP, Executive Director of the National Portable Storage Association,
or NPSA, a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of the
portable storage industry. \"You can even get different portable building layouts by
combining more than one container.\"

These portable buildings are low-cost and strong. They are built inside a 16-guage
vertically corrugated galvanized steel container. Portable storage modifiers rely on
heavy-duty, marine-grade wood flooring and install a die-stamped steel roof. These
portable buildings make good worksite offices, auxiliary space for game rooms and
music studios that need Internet connections, as well as overflow space for prisons
and emergency clinics that need to stay connected.

\"Relying on portable buildings that leverage containerized storage - complete with
Internet connections - is a smart move for many businesses who need to set up shop
in remote locations,\" said NPSA Operations Manager Joel Rathbone. \"Because these
buildings are developed using steel and other strong materials, you can be sure
they\'ll hold up to weather and wear and tear that will preserve their lifespan until
the next world-changing technology comes along.\"
