Almura Helps Build Revolutionary `Golden Village` For The Elderly

Released on: September 23, 2008, 2:33 am

Press Release Author: Hannah Lane/apt marketing & pr ltd

Industry: Construction

Press Release Summary: Almura Building Products and Richardson Projects have teamed
up to create a stunning £6 million residential village in Maccelsfield; the first UK
development of its type in terms of scale and design. The building blends seamlessly
with its surroundings thanks to pre-coloured, timber composite weatherboarding used
on the project.

Press Release Body: Ninety residents are housed in the 1.3 acre state-of-the-art
three-story development split into three wings. One wing has six self-contained
flats and the other two wings have six units of ten to twelve bedrooms. The care
home has its own beauty salon, restaurant, shop and cinema, all housed under one
giant roof. This replaced ‘The Larches’ care home, an outdated building in need of
renovation.

Phil Marsh, Sales Director at Almura understands what the architect was trying to
achieve in his design: “The new building is situated on a residential site opposite
a row of detached houses, so it was very important that the building portrays itself
on the street as a number of separate smaller buildings. This is why our
pre-coloured composite weather boarding was the most appropriate cladding to use on
this project.” The weather boarding has achieved its objective of presenting the
care home as separate residential properties, in-keeping with surrounding buildings.

Mat Ward, Chief Buyer at Richardson Projects explains why he chose to use Almura’s
weatherboarding product, “On this particular project we decided to use this specific
type of pre-coloured timber weatherboarding because it allowed us to choose from a
variety of colours. It’s also competitively priced, maintenance-free simple to
install and arrives on site already cut to size, saving us a huge amount of time.
Almura were always on-hand to advise on any technicalities regarding the material
and installation.”
