Green Debt Settlement Company Saves 27,000 lbs of CO2

Released on: September 17, 2008, 10:53 am

Press Release Author: Maggie Beetz / Debt Shield, Inc.

Industry: Financial

Press Release Summary: An award-winning debt settlement company helps fight climate
change through environmental programs.

Press Release Body: The employees at Debt Shield, an award-winning debt settlement
company, are doing their part in the global war against climate change by
implementing a collection of programs to significantly reduce the company's
environmental impact.

A popular option is the company's work-from-home program. So far, about 15 percent
of the Debt Shield team works from home for two or three days per week. By doing so,
employees save a combined 1,300 gallons of fuel annually, which translates into
approximately 27,000 pounds of CO2 not released into the atmosphere each year. Due
to its success and popularity, Talent Development Director Jill Strider said the
company may expand their work-from-home program.

"Employees are enjoying some much-deserved relief from high gas prices." Strider
explained. "Plus, our environmental programs are now becoming an important part of
our corporate culture, much like our charitable programs."

Debt Shield's environmental initiatives also include programs that reduce paper
consumption. A local paper recycling company helped Debt Shield save 160 trees since
the beginning of 2007. The company's efforts to go paperless also led them to their
Digital Signature Process for completing program applications. So far, Debt Shield
reduced physical paperwork by 88 percent.

Other conservation initiatives around the company include low-energy florescent
lighting throughout the building and low-flow water fixtures.

"As an organization, we're doing what we can to have a more positive impact on our
environment," said Strider. "It's just another way for us to give back to the
community."
