Atlanta's pb&j gallery is one of the city's premiere galleries for contemporary art. The gallery focuses on four primary media: photography, painting, collage and sculpture. The gallery was founded in April 2007 by Bob Burkhardt and his partner Jack Simonetta. Both artists' work is shown in the gallery as is their good friend Peggy Dana. The collective artists creates the namesake of the pb&j gallery.

The mission of pb&j gallery is to showcase the work of an array of artists and give emerging collectors the opportunity to find affordable contemporary works of art. "Many of our customers live in the local area of the gallery and are young families," says Burkhardt. "They're looking for high quality, affordable prices as they build their personal collections."

Burkhardt has had a 30-year corporate career as a graphic designer. A self-taught photographer, his work includes landscapes that often reflect familiar sites in and around the Atlanta area. A frequent visitor to Provincetown, MA, his work also portrays seascapes of the popular destination.

Other artists are also represented in the gallery and help to complement the work of the gallery principles. One such artist is photographer, Robert Simmons, whose work is typically more contemporary in nature.

The gallery offers work for anyone's budget. Photography ranges from $25.00 to $500.00, with the average being about $250.00 for a large framed image. Other pieces range from $100.00 to $1200.00, with the average being around $800.00 for a framed image.

Customers may also make purchases online at the the gallery's web site: www.pbj-gallery.com. Online offerings are focused on photography and include the gallery's featured artists.

pb&j gallery will present the work of four artists during its newest show which opens Friday, December 11 and runs through January 17. The show will feature photographers, Dylan Bailey and James Penn and mixed media artists Tracy Murrell and George Stone. The opening is from 7-10 pm.

pb&j gallery is located at 35 Howard Street SE, in Atlanta's Historic Kirkwood District. The gallery is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 12 to 5 pm. The gallery can be contacted at (404) 606-1856 or online at www.pbj-gallery.com
