The 2010 Kuala Lumpur Children's Book Fair could be the perfect way for families staying in the Malaysian capital next month to keep their youngsters entertained.

Set to take place at the Putra World Trade Centre between December 22nd and 26th, the inaugural occasion is intended to promote the "wonderful world of children's literature", the organisers explained.

More than 60 exhibitors have so far been confirmed for the expo, so people who head out from their Kuala Lumpur hotels to visit should find there is plenty to do.

"Parents and book buyers in general will be spoilt [for] choice with the array of the best of children’s literature to be showcased by exhibitors taking part in the fair.

As well as browsing the wide array of books on display, attendees can also look forward to a variety of other entertainment.

For instance, Zoo Negara will be holding animal petting sessions every day between 11:00 and 12:00 local time, while the Petrosains Mini Discovery Centre has been tipped to offer kids "adventures and excitement".

The latter organisation will offer daily science shows on the main stage from 13:00 to 14:00.

Drawing and colouring competitions for youngsters will also be held, although preregistration is required to enter.

Prospective visitors can check out the exhibition between 10:00 and 21:00.
