The royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is set to take place in London in 2011 and is already touted as being one of the highlights of the year in the capital.

A statement from Clarence House revealed that Prince William became engaged to Miss Middleton during a holiday in Kenya last month.

The royal institution confirmed the prince, who is currently training to be a search and rescue pilot in the Royal Air Force, asked permission from her father to take her hand in marriage.
