Film enthusiasts can catch an entire season of Werner Schroeter's work in Paris this winter, with a huge variety of his films being screened at the prestigious Centre Pompidou.

The flicks will be shown at various times between December 2nd 2010 and January 22nd 2011.

According to the venue, many of the movies set to be screened will be in restored versions or rare copies, with titles such as Le Jour des Idiots, Willow Springs, Palermo and Weisse Reise all included in the programme.

Guests at hotels in Paris may even get the chance to hear the thoughts of special guests, as there are several actors and collaborators of Schroeters' who are will be appearing during the course of the season.

A representative from the Centre Pompidou described him as a "lone star" who made some 30 flicks during his "sumptuous" career.

They added: "A great lover of music, poetry and theatre, he became a filmmaker and producer through his passion for the texts, the music and above all the divas and actresses who fascinated him."

Tickets for the screenings - most of which take place at the weekend - cost between€4 (£3.40) and €6, with travellers at nearby accommodation such as Hotel Antin Trinite Paris able to book their passes online.

Another cinematic event people can attend at the arts centre is What to do? Art, Film, Politics, which provides a panorama of contemporary criticism of the world.
