Hotels-Paris.co.uk - France 1500 Aims To Enlighten Paris Visitors

Released on: November 09, 2010, 4:56 am
Author: Hotels Paris Ltd
Industry: Travel

Travellers booked into hotels in Paris could find out a little more about the country's artistic history at France 1500.

The display is available to view until January 10th 2011 and aims to shed some light on an era that the organisers believe has been passed over by historians.

More than 200 pieces of art have been gathered for this collection at the Galeries Nationales of the Grand Palais, with one US and several French art institutions combining to create the exhibition.

It covers a period of the country's past that was dominated by Anne de Bretagne, who was married to both King Charles VIII and Louis XII.

Among the artists who worked during the era was Jean Hey, while it was also a very popular time to decorate texts - all of which visitors from nearby accommodation such as Hotel Residence Villiers Paris can see examples of.

The venue explained: "This exhibition explores a time of unprecedented artistic contact and creative effervescence in France, which many people know little about."

Admission costs €11 (£9.55), with the building staying open from 10:00 to 20:00 local time every day, except Wednesday when it shuts at 22:00 and Tuesday when the complex is closed.

There is plenty more to see at the Grand Palais, such as a retrospective of the work of Claude Monet.

For more information on this event visit the Grand Palais website or contact the organisers on + 33 (0)1 40 13 48 00.

Hotels-Paris.co.uk offers a wide range of accommodation in Paris, such as the Timhotel Gaite Montparnasse.
