LateRooms.com - Billy Bragg Set for Bournemouth Show

The English musician, known for mixing outspoken political views with romantic themes in his songs, is due to perform at the south coast resort's O2 Academy as part of his UK tour next month. Although there has been no new studio album from Bragg since 2008's Mr Love & Justice, the artist and activist has been as busy as ever this year. As well as contributing new songs to Mick Gordon's theatre production Pressure Drop, he played at the SXSW festival in the US to promote his Jail Guitar Doors initiative, which donates musical instruments for the rehabilitation of prison inmates. Fans of the singer will no doubt he pleased to see him return to British stages this winter, with the insightful commentary of Bragg's songs seeming particularly relevant in the current climate of economic uncertainty. Classic tracks such as A New England, Between the Wars and Sexuality could feature in the Bournemouth performance, as well as material from his more recent albums.
