Industry: Travel

Guests at Naples hotels who want to do something cultural on their trip to the beautiful Italian city could see a production of Tosca.

The classic tale is being performed at Teatro di San Carlo, which tourists may already be heading to as part of their sightseeing tour of the destination, as it is an incredible building.

Directed by Maurizio Benini and with Hasmik Papian taking on the titular role, it is sure to be a cracking show.

The opera, written by Giacomo Puccini, is set in Rome in 1800 and tells the story of a singer and a painter whose love is torn apart by the cruel Baron Scarpia.

It is full of tragedy, betrayal and sadness, but also features some of the finest lyrical arias written by Puccini.

There will be several shows between December 5th and 17th 2010.

Admission starts from €30 (£25.55) and the production will be staged at various times depending on the date. The earliest showing is at 17:00 local time on December 5th and the latest is at 20:30 on the 7th and 13th.

Attendees could consider getting to the arts space early to check out its museum, which allows visitors to retrace the history of the prestigious theatre and explore some of the great productions that have been acted out on its hallowed boards.

For more information on this event visit the Teatro di San Carlo website or contact the venue on +39 081 7972331.
