Dreadzone are due to bring their unique blend of dub, reggae,
electronica and rock to the Lake District next month.
Although the region is rightly viewed as a rural idyll by the many people who enjoy
staying in Lake District accommodation each year, a decidedly urban sound will be heard at
Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre on Friday December 10th.
Formed in 1993, Dreadzone count veteran reggae vocalist Earl 16, rapper MC Spee and
several former members of Big Audio Dynamite among their ranks.
Although they scored a top 20 hit in 1996 with Little Britain, the group have always
relied on critical appreciation and a strong cult following rather than chart
success.
Recent years have seen Dreadzone become a firm favourite among British festival
audiences and Eye on the Horizon, their sixth studio album, was released in April
2010.
In its review of the record, music website PopMatters described it as "a
dub-drenched exercise in orchestral pop".
Tickets for Dreadzone's performance in Kendal are available online, priced between£13.50 and £15.
The music is set to begin at 20:30 GMT and support will come from She Is Danger, the
up-and-coming London-based duo.
For more information on this event, visit the Brewery Arts Centre website or contact
the venue on 01539 725133.
