Smartphone manufacturer Research In Motion (RIM) has chosen Bali as the location for its first ever developer conference in Asia.

The North American company, which is behind the BlackBerry range of handsets, has confirmed DevCon Asia will take place at the Bali International Convention Centre on January 13th and 14th 2011.

Attendees will get involved in hands-on sessions and listen to keynote speeches detailing ways to create commercially successfully applications for the BlackBerry operating system by making use of a variety of tools and services.

Some of the experts confirmed as appearing at the event include RIM's south-east Asia managing director Gregory Wade and Mike Kirkup, the firm's director of developer relations.

Vice president of global alliances and developer relations Tyler Lesser, who will also be speaking at the occasion, said: "We are very pleased to be hosting the first pan-Asian BlackBerry DevCon and continuing to increase the amount of local information, tools and resources available for our developers in Asia."

With demand for the meeting likely to be high, anyone planning to get involved should book local accommodation - such as Seminyak hotels - as soon as possible.

Conferences passes are priced at $200 (£128), including admission to the event and lunch on both days.

The venue is located in Nusa Dua, around 25 minutes from the districts of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak.

For more information on this event, visit the BlackBerry DevCon Asia website.

AsiaRooms.com features an array of Seminyak accommodation, such as the Sanur Beach Hotel Seminyak.
