Amateur snappers are likely to find plenty of inspiration for their art by heading to the Natural History Museum in London to see the Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.

The venue may already be on the to-do list of many travellers booked into hotels in London thanks to its extensive archives of fascinating historical objects.

But this exhibition, which is available to view until March 11th 2011, focuses on the beautiful images being composed by today's photographers.

There will be more than 100 snaps in the collection, which includes all the commended photos of this year's competition, as well as the winners.

Hungarian lensman Bence Mate was the victor in the adult category, while Scottish photographer Fergus Gill won the young person's award for the second year in a row.

Any visitors from nearby accommodation such as the Flemings Hotel Mayfair enjoying the work on display may even be tempted to submit an image for the 2011 contest, which begins in January.

Tickets for the show cost £9, with the exhibition staying open from 10:00 to 17:50 every day and late openings available on the last Friday of each month, except for in December.

After its time at the Natural History Museum, the collection will embark on a world tour.

For more information on this event, visit the Natural History Museum website or contact the venue on 020 7942 5011.

Hotels-London.co.uk recommends a wide range of accommodation in London, such as the Hotel Verta London.
