Some of Australia's best yachts and crews will gather at
Melbourne's Waterfront City next month for the Audi Docklands
Invitational.
The event takes places on January 20th and 21st 2011 and is sure to prove popular
with any sailing enthusiasts staying in Melbourne hotels at the time.
Five races will be held over the two days, with the entrants set to battle it out
for the spoils in two categories - grand prix and production.
As spots in the event are only available on an invitational basis, cheap accommodation Melbourne guests eager to watch the action unfold can be sure that
only the cream of the sailing crop will be involved.
Many of the competitors will take to the waters off the coast of Melbourne having
only just returned from another prestigious yachting event, the Rolex Sydney Hobart.
The Royal Geelong Yacht Club is responsible for organising the challenge, which
comes as part of next year's expanded Audi Victoria Week programme.
With the races looming, the organisers are still keeping their cards close to their
chests regarding many of the entrants, but have confirmed the likes of Australian
sailing team member Nathan Outteridge will be involved.
People planning to book last minute accommodation for the spectacle should head down to the waterfront on each day
between 16:00 and 20:30 local time.
