Canadian hip-hop star Drake is due to visit Berlin on his
European tour next month.
One of the year's biggest stars in urban music, the 24-year-old Toronto native
released his debut album Thank Me Later to critical acclaim and impressive sales
figures in July.
The European jaunt, which begins in Glasgow on January 5th, will be Drake's first
headline tour of the continent.
He appeared as a support act for Jay-Z's recent UK dates and is certainly no
stranger to the big occasion, having performed at the Grammy Awards in January this
year.
People staying in Berlin hotels can see the artist hit the stage at the Columbiahalle venue on Sunday January 16th.
Having boosted his profile even further with a guest spot on Rihanna's recent hit
single What's My Name?, Drake is sure to attract plenty of fans for his appearance
in the German capital.
The rapper's rise to fame began with a role on Canadian teen drama series Degrassi:
The Next Generation.
He left acting behind in 2009 to sign a contract with Young Money Entertainment, the
record label founded by Lil Wayne.
After generating a buzz with several mixtape releases, the release of Thank Me Later
saw Drake confirm his status as one of the hottest new stars in music.
The album, which has now been certified platinum, features collaborations with
Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne.
Tickets for Drake's Berlin performance are available from £48. Support will be
provided by rising rap star J Cole, who is signed to the Roc Nation label run by
Jay-Z.
