The annual Prague Winter Festival gives tourists the chance to enjoy performances in some of the city's finest theatres and concert halls.

Taking place between January 2nd and 7th 2011, the event offers a varied programme of opera, ballet and classical music that should please even the most discerning visitor.

Anticipated highlights of next month's festival include Swan Lake at the Prague State Opera, Don Giovanni at the Theatre of the Estates, Carmen at the National Theatre and a special performance from the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra at the Rudolfinum.

Events are individually priced and guests of Prague hotels are advised to start booking now if they wish to attend.

Swan Lake, Tchaikovsky's much-loved ballet, will be performed at 19:00 local time on January 5th.

Tickets for this event are available for 850 Czech koruna and 950 koruna (£28 and£31.50), while a seat in the audience for Bizet's classic opera Carmen on the same day will cost 1,030 koruna.

Meanwhile, admirers of Czech music may like to attend the festival's performance of Rusalka by Antonin Dvorak on January 3rd.

Tickets for this show are priced between 950 koruna and 1,200 koruna.
