The Sands Centre's Christmas production of Sleeping Beauty could appeal to families staying in Lake District accommodation over the festive period.

Running from December 14th to 26th, the traditional pantomime will star Craig Chalmers from BBC One's Any Dream Will Do and local breakfast radio presenter Robbie Dee.

Described as a "timeless classic" by the Carlisle venue, Sleeping Beauty is an established favourite at Christmas time and could provide the perfect excuse for a seasonal trip to the theatre.

Seats are priced at £12 for adults and £10.50 for children, with family tickets available for £38.

The Sands Centre is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, which means the pantomime could prove to be an extra special experience for those in the audience.

More than 735,000 people attend the various shows at the venue each year, making it north Cumbria's premier leisure and entertainment facility.

Chalmers was one of the 12 finalists who appeared on the Any Dream Will Do show in 2007.

Despite eventually finishing in fifth place, he was later selected to play the lead role in Bill Kenwright's national tour of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
