Cotswold hotel guests can expect a memorable weekend of music, dancing and delicious cuisine if they head to next month's Gloucester Cajun and Zydeco Festival.

Returning for the 18th year in 2011, this annual extravaganza is a joyful celebration of Cajun music and culture that attracts performers and fans from around the world.

Since it was founded in 1993, the festival has grown from a one-day event to the largest of its kind in the UK.

Next year's edition will run at the Gloucester Guildhall from Friday January 28th to Sunday January 30th, with an impressive line-up of top Cajun and zydeco musicians due to perform.

People heading to the festival can look forward to music from The Zydeco Diamonds, Acadian Driftwood, The Flatville Aces and The Bayou Brothers, who will headline the Sunday night.

According to the organisers, the 2011 event is set to deliver "an unrivalled mix of music and dance rooted in the traditions of America's deep south".

Zydeco emerged from the Creole sounds of south-west Louisiana and is a close relative of traditional Cajun music. It was originally used to soundtrack house dances, where groups of families and friends would gather to socialise.

Weekend tickets for the festival are priced at £55, with Friday passes available for£20. People who wish to attend on Saturday or Sunday can purchase a single day ticket for £25.

For more information on this event, visit the Gloucester Guildhall website or contact the venue on 01452 503050.
