A photography exhibition in Naples entitled O Vero aims to show attendees what the city is all about through the use of still images.

The display will be available for guests at Naples hotels to view at the Museo d'Arte Contemporanea Donna Regina (Madre) from December 3rd 2010 to January 10th 2011.

According to the organisers, the phrase O Vero is a Neapolitan exclamation of astonishment and doubt, with this forming the central thesis of the photography being showcased, as the images show various interesting or startling moments in the history of the Italian destination.

"For better or for worse, Naples' 'truth' seems bound to be seen as something extraordinary, as if it was due to anthropological reasons," they added.

What curators Eduardo Cicelyn, Mario Codognato and Giovanni Fiorentino have tried to do is to use the language of photography to highlight the contradictions of the city and the subjectivity of history.

It features a wide variety of topics in the subject matter, from ancient alleyways and statues to football supporters and actors.

Opening hours at the facility are everyday from 10:00 to 19:00 local time - except Tuesdays, when it is closed.

Madre can be found on Via Settembrini, with admission costing €7 (£5.90).
