On Thursday January 13th, the Lake District venue will take part in the National Theatre Live season by screening a performance of the award-winning musical Fela! from London. Based on the eventful life of the pioneering Nigerian musician and activist Fela Anikulapo Kuti, the show has already enjoyed acclaimed runs on Broadway and in the West End. As part of National Theatre Live, it will be broadcast simultaneously to cinemas around the UK and worldwide as the cast members perform on stage in the UK capital. The Evening Standard has described Fela! as "a bold new direction for musical theatre", while the Guardian praised the "kaleidoscopic" nature of the staging and choreography by Bill T Jones. The screening is due to begin at 18:45 GMT.
