Holidaymakers seeking a place to spend New Year's Eve during their stay in Munich hotels could opt for the Tollwood Winter Festival.

This popular annual event, which began on November 24th at the city's traditional Theresienwiese showground, is set to close with a spectacular New Year's Eve bash.

The party promises to be a memorable occasion, with a diverse line-up of live bands and top local DJs providing musical accompaniment to the revelry in various tents.

Revellers can look forward to hearing tunes from the likes of DJ Nawid, Peter Schneider and The Stimulators, DJ Pascha, The Bottles and DJ Amasir as they welcome in the new year.

As with similar events taking place around Germany on December 31st, the midnight countdown will be followed be a traditional waltz to mark the beginning of 2011.

Because the party represents the close of the 38-day festival as well as a New Year's Eve celebration, people can expect a particularly energetic crowd at the Theresienwiese.

The Tollwood festivities are scheduled to begin at approximately 19:30 local time and will run on into the early hours, with the DJs and performers beginning their final sets at 02:00.

Circus theatres companies from around the world are taking part in this year's festival, which has adopted the concept of "traces" as its central theme.

Tickets for the New Year's Eve event can be purchased online and are priced at€20.55 (£17.50) plus booking fee. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
