The 2011 Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE), billed as the biggest event of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region, will be coming to Kuala Lumpur next month.

Set to take place between February 17th and 19th, the upcoming edition will be see MTE celebrating its tenth anniversary, with the organisers promising to mark the milestone achievement by brining "ten times the excitement".

People staying in Kuala Lumpur hotels who head out to explore the show will be able to get a glimpse of a range of hi-tech developments designed to revolutionise the commerce, trade, information and communication sectors.

The occasion incorporates the Invention and Innovation Awards, which seek to recognise the creations that "break away from the convention and go above and beyond marginal improvements".

Some 550 entries are expected for this year's ceremony, with the organisers expecting to hand out 85 gold medals - more than ever before.

Around 100 exhibitors will come from all over the world to get involved in MTE, while more than 10,000 visitors from associated trades - as well as members of the public with an interest in gadgets and technology - are set to attend.

The expo will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 10:00 until 18:00 local time on February 17th and 18th, and between 10:00 and 16:00 on the final day.
