The 2011 Brisbane Comedy Festival will tickle the funny bones of people staying in cheap hotels in the Queensland capital over the coming weeks.

Described by the organisers as the largest event of its kind in the state, it will take place from March 1st to 27th, with all performances being staged at the Brisbane Powerhouse.

Some of the biggest names in Australian and international comedy will take to the stage for the amusement of people staying in Brisbane hotels and other audience members.

Among the funnymen and women on the line-up is Arj Barker, best known for playing Dave in the smash-hit TV comedy Flight of the Concords, who is lined up to play every night between March 15th and 20th.

Each of these shows will kick off at 19:00 local time, apart from the final performance that starts one hour earlier, while tickets are available for between AU$39 and AU$44.

Scotland's Danny Bhoy, Jason Byrne from Ireland and local favourite Mel Buttle will also be appearing at the festival.
