LateRooms.com - Head to London for Chinese New Year

Travellers heading to London hotels for Chinese New Year are in for a great experience, with several activities taking place across the city.

Outside Asia, London holds the largest celebrations for the occasion, which means there will be plenty of people out and about enjoying the entertainment on offer.

The Year of the Rabbit begins on February 3rd 2011, so attendees can expect to see plenty of representations of the animal alongside more traditional Chinese iconography such as the dragon.

If London's 2010 Chinese New Year show is anything to go by, then people are set for a lively and fascinating cultural programme that includes music, fireworks and art.

One of the main areas for the event will - naturally - be Chinatown, but Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square are also due to host parts of the programme.

And if people get a little peckish during the occasion they will be able to enjoy menus created by local Chinese restaurants especially for the traditional festival.

The rabbit is the fourth animal in the 12-year Chinese zodiac cycle, with various fables in existence regarding how each year was allocated.

Specific details regarding timings are set to be published closer to the time, but main activities are expected to take place between 12:00 and 18:00 GMT.

For more information on this event, visit the London Chinatown website.
