People with Cotswold hotel bookings are likely to be among the audience for an upcoming performance by mezzo-soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers.

The experienced singer is due to appear at St Mary's Church in the Gloucestershire town of Wotton-under-Edge on Saturday February 12th.

Her performance is entitled A Portrait in Music and forms part of the Wotton Concert Series, which brings together classical musicians for a trio of recitals in a beautiful rural location.

A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Wyn-Rogers has spent 30 years as a top mezzo-soprano and is known around the world for her work in oratorio and opera.

She will be accompanied by German pianist Klaus Sallmann on February 12th as she performs a selection of pieces from Handel, Brahms, Wagner, Elgar and many more.

According to the organisers, Wyn-Rogers will introduce the audience to some of the characters she has portrayed on stage over the years, including "witches, earth mothers and wicked ladies".

Tickets for A Portrait in Music are priced at £20 or £25, depending on whether audience members are located in the central or side block of seating. The music is due to begin at 19:30 GMT.

For more information on this event, visit the Wotton Concert Series website or contact the box office on 01453 843 144.
