LateRooms.com - See The Upside Down World of Chagall in Rome

Released on: January 04, 2011, 7:39 am
Author: LateRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

The Upside Down World of Chagall is now on display at Rome's Museo della'Ara Pacis venue and showcases the artwork of Marc Chagall on the 25th anniversary of his death.

A total of 91 pieces by the artist are available for guests at 5 star hotels in Rome to enjoy until March 27th 2011, with both paintings and drawings forming part of the show.

The venue explained that Chagall was an unusual painter who seemed to constantly put the characters in his artwork into improbable environments and often drew them performing strange acrobatics.

A representative from the arts space noted: "That is why we are so readily drawn into Chagall’s canvases, each one of which reveals episodes in which human beings, animals and objects are displaced, promenaded, transferred.

"Topsy turvy, the images detach themselves from contingent reality."

The themes explored in the exhibition include Chagall's relationship with the Surrealists and his religious identity, as well as the factors that inspired his unique style.

To get to the venue, travellers can use the Metro and get off at Flaminio on Line A and then walk down Via di Ripetta.

Admission costs €11 (£9.40) but there are concessions available. Opening hours for the complex are from Tuesdays to Sundays between 09:00 and 19:00 local time.
