AsiaRooms.com - Get Set for Hong Kong Sevens

The world-famous Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament will see some of the game's stars descend on the city next month.

England and New Zealand may go into the event as favourites, with the two sides currently joint top of the 2011 IRB Sevens World Series.

However, South Africa are also likely to be confident after lifting the trophy in the USA in February, their first triumph since the Adelaide Sevens in 2009.

Fiji have dominated the sport in the past and still sit top of the all-time winners list in Hong Kong, with 12 titles to their name.

The Hong Kong event first took place in 1976, when it was contested by clubs from Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Japan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Fiji.

Since then it has grown in status to become the world's most prestigious Sevens contest.

An estimated 120,000 people will head to Hong Kong Stadium when the tournament takes place between March 25th and 27th.

The action lasts from 16:30 to 21:15 local time on the opening day, 10:30 to 19:15 on the second and between 09:00 and 19:20 for the finale.

Rugby fans looking for Hong Kong hotels can use AsiaRooms.com to find a wide array of options, including the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, which offers magnificent views over Victoria Harbour.
