DirectRooms.com – Brisbane Features Nearly a Whole Month of Comedy in March 2011

DirectRooms.com reports that people looking for a laugh in Australia should head to Brisbane in March where a host of local and international comedians will be entertaining audiences with an overwhelming variety of stand up.

The Brisbane Comedy Festival 2011 is the largest festival dedicated to pure comic genius in the whole of Queensland and this year acts include the likes of Irish funny man Jason Byrne, Damien Power, Tom Gleeson and Sam Simmons.

Well over 30 acts will be performing including homegrown talent Mel Buttle who had her debut at the festival last year and is back again to the delight of home crowds. Each of the comedians will be presenting new material and there’ll be lots of audience participation so hecklers be warned.

Some of the featured sketches include ‘The Hermitude of Angus, Ecstatic’ which is a performance by Steph Brotchie and Vachel Spirason that mixes dance, clowns, music and books to tell the story of Angus the strange boy with the murmuring heart. The show was winner of Best Comedy at the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2010 and audiences can book tickets for the show from 15th to 20th March 2011.

All of the comedy acts will be performing at the Brisbane Powerhouse and visitors from out of town will be booking Brisbane hotels over the entire festival which runs from 1st to 27th March 2011.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: “Thousands of people will be attending the festival over the month and this will cause some hotels to become fully booked. Visitors must be sure to check online if they want to stay at certain places and make sure they book early.”
