Tickets for the London 2012 Olympic Games go on sale in a matter of weeks and some sports enthusiasts may already be planning which events they intend to see.

From March 15th 2011, people will be able to buy passes for the eagerly-awaited spectacle, with the full schedule published this week.

With the finest international athletes due to descend on the capital from July 27th to August 12th, demand is sure to be extremely high.

Lord Sebastian Coe, chair of the Games' organising committee, stated: "Our message to the public is clear - the superstars of 26 world sports are coming to the UK and you have the chance to say 'I was there'."

Ticket prices vary depending on the event. For example, passes to see the finals of the archery contests start from £30, while the corresponding sessions for athletics cost upwards of £50. There are concessions for young people and the elderly.

The window for buying tickets in this first round of transactions closes on April 26th 2011.

Attendees who wish to find London hotels for their stay in the capital can browse a selection of accommodation at Hotels-London.co.uk, which recommends options such as the Dorset Square Hotel London and The Lancaster London Hotel.
