The Gloucester Guildhall is set to welcome Alabama 3 Acoustic
and Unplugged on Sunday March 27th.
As an offshoot of cult Brixton-based outfit Alabama 3, the four-piece group offer a
stripped-down, intimate take on the original band's fusion of rock, blues and
country sounds.
The acoustic ensemble boasts a line-up of vocalists Larry Love and Aurora Dawn,
guitarist Rock Freebase and Harpo Strangelove on harmonica.
According to the official Alabama 3 website, the band's style can be described as "country/gospel/delta blues, but played with a rhythm you've still got to dance
to".
In their original incarnation, Alabama 3 arrived on the British music scene in 1997
with the release of their debut album, Exile on Coldharbour Lane.
The LP contained the song Woke Up This Morning, which became the band's most
well-known track after it was chosen as the opening theme music for The Sopranos.
More recently, the group released their eighth studio album Revolver Soul in May
last year.
Audience members can expect to hear tunes from this LP, as well as older classics,
when Alabama 3 Acoustic and Unplugged arrives at the Guildhall.
