LateRooms.com - Chris de Burgh to Perform in Munich

Chris de Burgh, a songwriter who has enjoyed major international success since the 1970s, is due to play live in Munich later this year.

The singer has lined up a performance at the Bavarian capital's Olympiahalle on Wednesday April 6th, when he will treat the audience to songs from his latest album Moonfleet & Other Stories.

Released in 2010, the LP is De Burgh's 18th studio album and features a collection of songs based on the work of English novelist John Meade Falkner.

The record reached the top ten in the German album chart and continued the performer's remarkable run of success, which began with the release of his debut album in 1975.

Entitled Far Beyond These Castle Walls, the LP featured the song Flying, which spent 17 weeks at number one in Brazil.

However, many people will know De Burgh best for his 1986 number one single Lady in Red, which appeared on the 1986 LP Into the Light.

The artist has said the song was inspired by the memory of seeing his first wife Diane for the first time.

De Burgh's career has also included major hits such as High on Emotion and Don't Pay the Ferryman.

For his latest album, the songwriter took on an ambitious project by interpreting Falkner's classic novel from 1898.

In a statement on his website, he described the creative process for Moonfleet & Other Stories as "immensely challenging".

De Burgh explained: "I initially thought the piece of music was going to be 25 minutes long – and it wound up being just under 50 minutes, which is pretty amazing."

Tickets to see the performer in Munich are priced between €25.20 and €87.90 (£21.50 and £75.10), with the show set to begin at 20:00 local time.

Fans can find a large number of Munich hotels at LateRooms.com, which recommends accommodation such as the Hotel Leonardo Munich.
