An exhibition tracing the development of Japanese fashion over the last 30 years is set to open in Munich next month.

Future Beauty will begin at the Haus der Kunst, the Bavarian capital's famous art museum, on Friday March 4th and run until mid-June.

Billed as the first event of its kind in Europe, the display will examine the influence of Japanese designers such as Rei Kawakubo, Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto on global trends.

The trio emerged in the early 1980s and "redefined fashion from scratch" with their avant-garde creations, according to the Munich venue.

As well as these pioneers, the exhibition will pay tribute to the achievements of the next generation of Japanese designers, including Junya Watanabe, Jun Takahashi, Tao Kurihara and Jil Sander of Uniqlo.

People attending Future Beauty will find the show divided into four sections - Praise of Shadow, Flatness, Tradition and Innovation, and Cool Japan.

According to the organisers, this structure has been designed to ensure the event explores the various links between high fashion, street style, tradition, art and culture.

Having received critical acclaim when it premiered at the Barbican Art Gallery in October 2010, the exhibition's stay in Munich is likely to attract plenty of the city's fashionistas.

The Haus der Kunst is open every day between 10:00 and 20:00 local time, except on Thursday when the doors are open from 10:00 to 22:00.

Admission is priced at €10 (£8.40), while people under the age of 18 can enter for €2 per exhibition.

People looking for Munich hotels can find a variety of accommodation at LateRooms.com, including the Hotel Leonardo Munich. This four-star hotel is located close to the city centre and a short walk away from the city's main station.
