LateRooms.com - Have a Flutter at the Adelaide Cup

Author: LateRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

The premier event on the South Australian racing calendar - the Adelaide Cup - will return next month.

Fans from across the country and overseas will descend on Allan Scott Park in Morphettville for the occasion to rub shoulders with the city's A-list and have a flutter on the results.

But an interest in horses is far from compulsory, with the spectacle also a popular haunt for those who love nothing more than dressing up in designer threads and sipping glasses of champagne.

The prestige of the Adelaide Cup stems not only from the high calibre of racing that it sees year after year, but also its lengthy history.

It was first held in 1864 at the South Australian Jockey Club's course in Thebarton and was won by Falcon, with a prize pot of 500 guineas up for grabs.

A large selection of ticketing packages is available for the event on March 14th 2011, incorporating everything from wining and dining in a private room or marquee to simple admission for the race.

Prices start at AU$15 for adults and AU$7 for concessions, while children under the age of 18 can get in for free.

Anyone looking for hotel deals in the area can find a large selection of Adelaide hotels at LateRooms.com.

More Adelaide Cup information can be found here http://www.sajc.com.au/home or by contacting the organisers on (+61) 8 8295 0111.
