Teatralia could be a great way for youngsters to experience the magic of theatre during a trip to the Spanish capital.

Several venues in Madrid will host a varied programme, ranging from break-dancing performances for older children to puppet shows for the very young.

Teatralia is an arts festival organised to inspire curiosity and creativity in its youthful visitors through its collection of shows.

This year sees it turn 15, with events taking place from March 4th to 27th.

There are 23 productions on the bill and performers have come from all over the world to participate.

Among the pieces on offer are A Manos Llenos - utilising a combination of shadow and conventional puppets - and Alucine, El Cine Por Arte De Magia, which combines theatre with magic.

The organisers of the event have made it clear in their programme which productions are suitable for which age ranges.

Prices vary depending on the venue and the show, with performances taking place at different times each day.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.

Theatre enthusiasts on the lookout for Madrid hotels for their family can find a broad selection of accommodation on LateRooms.com, including the Westin Palace Madrid.

More details on the festival can be found at www.madrid.org/teatralia/2011/.
