Visitors are expected to turn up in their thousands for a unique festival in Belfast dedicated to the sights and sounds of spring that will also be raising awareness for the importance of the city’s parks and green areas, DirectRooms.com reports.

Over the weekend of 16th and 17th April 2011, Spring Fair is designed to take attendees back to nature by interacting with local wildlife and learning about the importance of protecting and maintaining the habitats of animals. Activities for children include the chance to feed new born lambs, horse rides and see displays of agility from birds of prey.

Experts will be on site to educate children in ways to sustain the environment while also explaining how to identify rare breeds of animals and insect varieties. Along with the nature displays people are able to participate in archery, climbing, maypole dancing and caving and see stalls dedicated to all kinds of craftsmanship.

Visitors checked into hotels Belfast will also be arriving in the thousands for the Spring Flower Show at the same time which consists of beautiful prize winning blooms and gardening demonstrations.

All the activities run in the afternoon from 13:30 to 17:30 at Barnett Demesne and Malone House and admission is free for all ages.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: “A show of this size means plenty of people are going to be travelling to Belfast for the weekend to enjoy all the fair has to offer. Rates at hotels are likely to increase as places book up so to find the best deals people should search online.”
