The third Long Night of Opera and Theatre is due to take place on Saturday April 16th in the German capital, with many cultural venues preparing to stage some after-hours entertainment. Running from 19:00 to 01:00 local time, the event will feature both a selection of current repertoire and performances put together specially for the occasion. Each of the 60 participating venues will stage productions lasting for just 30 minutes, with audience members encouraged to tour the various theatres and enjoy back-to-back performances. With a single ticket, people can visit many of Berlin's top cultural institutions and receive a crash course in the latest opera, ballet and drama. Due to the wide variety of venues involved, the performances on offer will also include popular music, cabaret, puppets, youth theatre and acrobatics. A shuttle bus service is provided to help visitors reach the various theatres and pack as much as possible into the night, with seven different routes spread across the city. Tickets for the Long Night of Opera and Theatre can be purchased online, priced at€15 (£12.90) and €12 for children.
