LateRooms.com - Bilbao's Gutun Zuria to be Inaugurated by Salman Rushdie

Released on: March 16, 2011, 2:26 pm
Author: LateRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

Salman Rushdie will appear at the Bilbao international literature festival Gutun Zuria next month to kick off proceedings and lead a discussion.

The author of Midnight's Children and The Satanic Verses will help to inaugurate this year's edition of the event alongside Slovaj Zizek, a Slovenian philosopher and critical theorist.

Gutun Zuria will take place from April 7th to 10th at the Alhondiga Bilbao and feature a varied programme of music, film and debate, all relating to literature.

One of the highlights of the festival looks set to be a talk by Rushdie, who will discuss the notion of 'When the world becomes one' on stage with Paul Holdengraber.

Rushdie, who won the Booker prize for Midnight's Children, recently announced that he has started to write his memoirs.

A new addition to the festival is the Literatura Invitada section, which will focus on a different theme each year, with 2011's topic being contemporary Russian books.

Each activity on the programme is individually priced and some are free of charge.

LateRooms.com hosts a huge variety of accommodation for literature enthusiasts keen to book a hotel in Bilbao, with the website recommending options such as the Hotel Carlton Bilbao.
