LateRooms.com - Daniel Tamayo's Art to Debut in Bilbao

Released on: March 10, 2011, 09:15 am
Author: LateRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

Be one of the first to see local artist Daniel Tamayo's work in Bilbao this year.

Many of the pieces due to go on display at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao have never been shown to the public before.

More than 20 of Tamayo's Pop Art-inspired paintings will be presented from March 14th to June 12th 2011.

According to the venue, the artist favours "theatrical themes" and fantastical scenes.

"What we might call his figurative code has been marked by a taste for geometric drawing, 'objectual' form and intense colours in smooth, flat inks," noted the organisers.

Bilbao-born Tamayo is a teacher at the University of the Basque Country's fine arts faculty, where he was also a student.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 20:00 local time. Tickets are priced at €6 (£5.15), although concessions are available.

People who visit the gallery by May 15th are also able to view There Is More In You, which is an installation exploring images of women in the Middle Ages.

If art enthusiasts want to find accommodation for their trip to the Basque country, they can use LateRooms.com to browse a vast selection of hotels in Bilbao, including the Hotel Carlton Bilbao.

For more information, visit www.museobilbao.com/in/exposiciones/daniel-tamayo-163 or call the venue on +34 94 439 6060.
