LateRooms.com - Find Something Classic at Madrid's Almoneda

Industry: Travel

More than 25,000 antique items will be on display at the Almoneda festival in Madrid this year.

The occasion runs from April 9th to 17th and will see objects from about 150 galleries across Spain and overseas presented for visitors to admire or purchase.

According to the organisers, much of the collection on show is at least 50 years old and ranges from paintings and sculptures to dolls and clothes.

They claim that Almoneda is not just designed for collectors of antiques but will be fascinating for anyone with an interest in history.

About 24,000 people attended the occasion last year and a similar number are expected at next month's event at the IFEMA, Feria de Madrid.

To reach the venue by Metro, take the L8 line to Campo de las Naciones.

Admission costs €8 (£6.90) on the day or €7 in advance, although there will be free entrance on Tuesday April 12th. The festival is open from 12:00 to 21:00 local time each day.

If antiques lovers want to book accommodation in the city, they can browse a vast selection of Madrid hotels on LateRooms.com, such as the Westin Palace Madrid.

More information is available at www.ifema.es/web/ferias/almoneda/default.html or by calling the venue on +34 91 722 50 00.
