LateRooms.com - Head to Prague for Febiofest

Industry: Travel

The countdown has begun for Febiofest, Prague's annual celebration of the movie industry.

Taking place between Thursday March 24th and Friday April 1st this year, the event has risen from humble beginnings to become one of the largest film festivals in the Czech Republic.

Febiofest prides itself on being an audience-friendly occasion, as it was founded on a tiny budget by independent production company Febio in 1993.

The festival was originally created to provide a creative environment for native filmmakers, but has grown to welcome directors and producers from all over the world.

International figures who have graced the event in recent years include American Hal Hartley, Isztvan Szabo of Hungary and Carlos Saura of Spain.

The festival is based at Prague's modern multiplex Cinestar Cinemas Andel, although events will also take place at the smaller Ponrepo Cinema and the Video Auditorium.

Films of all genres are considered for inclusion in the programme, which will be formally announced in the days leading up to the event.

Attendees can expect to see the best international movies of the past 12 months, as well as retrospective features, experimental films and a section dedicated to children's cinema.

Tickets for screenings will be individually priced, with the online box office due to open on Wednesday March 16th.

Movie buffs considering a stay in Prague hotels for the festival can find a range of accommodation at LateRooms.com, which recommends the Hotel Tosca Prague.

Visit www.febiofest.cz for more information on this event.
