LateRooms.com - Jose Gonzalez to Perform in Munich

Munich's Herkulessaal concert venue will host a special event featuring Jose Gonzalez later this month.

The singer-songwriter is due to perform there alongside the Gothenburg String Theory, an experimental orchestral collective that draws its 20-plus members from the Swedish city and the Berlin music scene.

Gonzalez, who many people will know for his 2006 hit Heartbeats, will play with the group at venues across Europe in late March and April.

Their performance in Munich is due to take place at 20:30 local time on Tuesday March 29th.

The collaboration is expected to take the musician's songs in interesting new directions, as his trademark sound is based on a solo classical guitar and hushed vocal melodies.

Born in Gothenburg to Argentinian parents, Gonzalez cut his teeth by playing in local hardcore punk bands before launching his solo career with an altogether more laidback and introspective sound.

Heartbeats, a cover version of a 2002 single by fellow Swedes The Knife, saw the musician enter the mainstream when it soundtracked an advert for Sony Bravia televisions.

The song appeared on his 2003 debut album Veneer, which was praised by critics for its ethereal melodies and gifted musicianship.

Four years later, Gonzalez unveiled his second LP In Our Nature, which featured the single Down the Line and a cover of Teardrop by Massive Attack.

He is also a member of Swedish band Junip, who released their debut album Fields in September last year.

Tickets to see Gonzalez and the Gothenburg String Theory in Munich are available online, priced between €30 and €49.55 (£25.70 and £42.60).

LateRooms.com features an array of Munich hotels that could appeal to concert-goers, including the Hotel Leonardo Munich.
