LateRooms.com - See Restored Nero and Seneca in Madrid

Released on: March 3, 2011, 06:25 am
Author: LateRooms Ltd
Industry: Travel

Madrid's El Prado has put the Eduardo Barron sculpture Nero and Seneca back on display after a complex two-year restoration process.

Fans of the artist will not want to miss the chance to see the piece, which had deteriorated after originally being displayed in unsuitable conditions.

According to the venue, the artwork is particularly fragile due to the polychromed plaster used to make it.

Nero and Seneca depicts the latter man, a philosopher, instructing the famous Roman emperor.

The 1904 sculpture will be on show in Room 74 of the arts space until September 24th 2011.

Next to the main piece, people can also see a smaller version of Nero and Seneca made by the same artist. It was created as a gift to the politician Antonio Maura and is in almost perfect condition.

Admission to El Prado costs €8 (£6.80). Opening hours are between 09:00 and 20:00 local time from Tuesday to Saturday.

Art fans keen to book Madrid hotels for their visit to the Spanish capital can find a wide selection of options on LateRooms.com, including the Westin Palace Madrid, which is within walking distance of the museum.

More information is available at www.museodelprado.es/en/exhibitions/current-exhibitions or by calling the venue on +34 91 330 2800.
